Since 1937, the members of the second oldest garden club in Beaufort have committed themselves to learning and growing as individuals, while serving their community.  Their service has had an impact on the state and national levels as well as in this picturesque coastal town.

In 2020, after two years of research, the SIGC History Committee wrote a comprehensive history of the Sea Island Garden Club from 1937 to 2020.  Using old newspapers, yearbooks, scrapbooks, and recollections of members, the committee wove together a more detailed story of the club's first eighty-three years.  This history is on file in the Beaufort District Room at the Beaufort County Library.
